The staff are great, and our room was clean and nice. The location is great, the pool was nice, and breakfast was good. They could have served fresher fruit and swapped the sausage for bacon, or at least alternated them from day to day. The breakfast area could have been cleaner, too. Both ice machines were broken, and the hot tub was out of service. Even so, it’s a great hotel for the price.

We left and found somewhere else to stay. The first room looked passable at a glance, but one bed had a long black hair and another had dog hair. The beds clearly didn’t seem to have been changed. We asked for a different room, but found the same problem there, with dirty sheets and beds that looked like someone had already slept in them. That’s a serious hygiene and cleaning failure. We won’t return and wouldn’t recommend this property.

The pool area has a major humidity and condensation problem. Staff put towels down, but the drywall is bubbling and falling apart. The hotel is older, and maintenance seems to be neglected. It feels like the place is well into a downward slide. Our room was very noisy, and we could hear everything. I raised concerns about room cleaning, and the manager didn’t seem especially surprised. Breakfast was questionable, too. I heard a few guests asking each other whether it was even edible.

The hotel staff were great, super helpful, and accommodated us in every way. The rooms are a bit old and need updating, especially the bathrooms. They have mold and rust, though they were clean. My main concern is the connected restaurant, which also provides the hotel breakfast. We experienced serious racism there. The hotel called to say one of my boys had a gun. When I spoke with the manager, Melissa, she said there was no doubt he had one, described him carrying it openly, and said he was waving it around. I asked the player in question, and he said, “Coach, do you mean my massage gun?” Yes, a massage gun, the kind many people at the hotel were using. I saw the security footage. He wasn’t waving it around; he had it on his shoulder the whole time. Melissa never apologized and clearly targeted this kid because of her prejudice. He was Black, had a small afro, and is one of the nicest kids I know. The kids weren’t causing a disturbance, they were just hanging around waiting to leave. I don’t usually make accusations of racism, but this was clear as day. Melissa is responsible for the breakfast the hotel offers. I’d stay away before she accuses you of something because of her prejudice. If she’ll treat innocent kids this way, I can only imagine how she runs the business. Hotel management should investigate her and seriously consider consequences. Despite how great the Quality Inn staff were, I wouldn’t recommend staying here because of this.

The main reason we chose this hotel was the attached arcade, bumper cars, and bowling for the kids. On the only evening we could go, we were abruptly told to leave because of a kitchen emergency. Emergency services came and everything appeared to be resolved, but the facility stayed closed for the rest of that day, which was the only day it was open during our stay. There was a sign saying tokens weren’t refundable, which would make sense if guests chose to leave. We were asked to leave because of something out of our control, though, and no refund or accommodation was offered for the tokens we’d bought. We were told we could come back Tuesday, but it was closed Sunday and Monday, and we were checking out and leaving Monday morning, so that wasn’t possible. Our three night stay was disappointing, especially since we were travelling from out of province. The room wasn’t very clean and had visible damage. The coffee maker inside the room looked moldy, and stains on the blankets were unsettling. We paid $10 a night for what was called a “rollaway cot.” It turned out to be a basic camping cot with no padding, dropped off with a few blankets for us to set up ourselves. We had no problem setting it up, but a rollaway cot is supposed to have a mattress. It would be hard for some people to sleep on, especially for more than a couple of nights. The included hot breakfast was really sad. Bread and bagels were set out in bags guests had to open and reach into, and cream cheese was left on the counter even though the packages said to keep it refrigerated. There were small cartons of orange and apple juice, but no one kept an eye on them, so guests had to keep asking the front desk for more. They ran out often given the number of guests. Staff asked us not to use the toaster while they were making coffee because it would blow a fuse. It was an old four slice toaster that took forever. With so many guests, the hot food, which was just premade egg and sausages, was cold by the time you had toast or a bagel ready. On our last morning, a storm the night before kept the cooks from getting in, so there was no hot food. The desk staff said only cold items were available, but we still had to keep asking for milk for cereal, juice, bread, and bagels. Staff seemed irritated about having to provide anything. No compensation or adjustment was offered. The staff’s attitude made the stay feel even worse. A couple of the female staff were unpleasant, and the person who asked us to leave the arcade was just plain rude. We’ve stayed at other Quality Inn hotels and never had such a poor experience. It’s a shame the standards aren’t the same across locations.
