Sun Beach Motel

The rooms are clean and basic, with everything you need, but we spent most of our time outside. Our family of four swam in the lake every day and ate outdoors each evening. There's a big willow in the courtyard, lots of chairs, and the lake right there. The outdoor space deserves five stars, and the owners gave us wonderful service.

I'm here now, and my stay has been a pleasant surprise after some hesitation from reading reviews. The room is very clean, quiet, and comfortable. I was concerned by a mention of spiders, but haven't seen any. The lakefront is beautiful, and there are plenty of floaties to use. There's a BBQ too, though I don't cook on vacation and didn't use it. The staff have been welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I've stayed at Walnut Beach Resort before and like this quaint, peaceful hidden gem even more. So far, all good.

My daughter and her family have stayed here for over 30 years, but she says the place has gone downhill under the newest managers. After they left, the motel charged $100 to her credit card, claiming the room was a mess. They hadn't contacted her about it, as they legally had to, and wouldn't provide photos or other proof. Then the man blocked their calls to the motel. My daughter says they tidied the room before leaving. Pathetic. Keep driving, or your credit card could be next :(

I was very happy with my stay and plan to come back. Brenda and the staff were so helpful and accommodating, and I really appreciated how willing they were to assist.
