Beacon Hill Motel

We arrived late and our group was tired, but the staff member at the counter was wonderful and went above and beyond with customer service. Their debit machine was having problems, and finding a bank machine and making another trip just wasn't in our plans. He completely understood, so we went to another hotel instead. His manner and service deserve recognition and thanks. Employees like that should be appreciated.

In my 30 years of existence, I've never been in a more disgusting place. I spent half my life growing up in west Africa, and this place still takes the cake. There was a dirty towel on the TV stand, and the room smelled of mold and cheap native cigarettes. The floor was warped and uneven in spots, and the shower was dirty. The shampoo and conditioner had already been used. The bed, oh God, was unbelievably uncomfortable, squeaky and dirty. After a few attempts to reach reception, we realized the phone wasn't even plugged in. Thank God it wasn't an emergency. The room was very small, which is okay for the price, but given the whole experience, I wouldn't pay more than $50. The staff were reasonable, at least. For your safety, bring your own sheets and towel.

The room was clean, newly renovated, and really nice, with a big bed, large tub, small fridge beside the bed, and a big TV. They also provided maid service and extra towels when needed. It isn't a five-star place, but after my first few minutes there I nearly left. The owner showed me the room, and it was much nicer than the exterior suggested.

We got decent value for the money, though the musty-smelling room was only fairly clean. Housekeeping did a good job making the bed and replacing towels while we were out, and the coffee and small breakfast were a nice touch. The big problem was loud knocking from the neighboring room in the middle of the night that went on for several minutes and left us unable to sleep for the rest of the night. Be ready for some sketchy neighbors.
