The Business Inn

Elgin St puts the hotel right in the entertainment district, close to lots of pubs and restaurants. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the Canadian Museum of Nature and 25 minutes to Parliament Hill. Our clean, comfortable room had a kitchenette with a fridge and range, plus a full computer and printer, which I’d never seen in a hotel room. The bed was comfortable, if a little soft. I’d avoid rooms on the third floor and above ending in “04” or “05” because they’re beside the elevators. At least one elevator had squeaky wheels that we could hear in the room. A white noise generator by the bed and fans helped cover it. There’s a basic gym, free laundry, and breakfast included. Breakfast is basic but has what you need. The hotel and rooms are somewhat dated, but not run down.

Calvin and Ina checked us in, and both were so warm and welcoming, with wonderful personalities. They even teased my 10-year-old about the trip he was complaining about. Our room was spacious, nice, clean, and neat. The petit dejeuner had a great selection and was very generous. We had a lovely night and would definitely recommend visiting again. I was exhausted and didn’t take any photos, hopefully next time.

We were really impressed during our three-night stay last week. It cost significantly less than other hotels in the area and still exceeded our expectations. The room was huge, had a full kitchen and everything we needed, and housekeeping kept it in good shape. Breakfast was included, with lots of options, and everything was very good. The front desk staff were all lovely. A 10/10 experience, and we’ll definitely return on future trips.

The room was excellent, spacious, and very clean, and the service made the price feel completely justified. Breakfasts were very good too. The outside of the hotel and its corridors look a little outdated, but I’d definitely stay here again if I travel to Ottawa.
