Best Value Inn & Suites Parry Sound

We were working in Carling and stayed at the Best Value Inn Parry Sound. The plaza next door has a bowling alley and game zone, grocery store, gas station, several fast food options, and a restaurant, so the location worked out great. We used the indoor heated pool every night, and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were great and always ready to help or answer questions, especially Eddy at the front desk. All in all, a great experience!

The website pictures were really deceiving, and I was expecting something quite different. The rooms were terrible: ceilings were falling down, click flooring was held down with drywall screws, and the bathroom was worse. The walls had unfinished drywall compound, and the lamps wouldn't switch off, so I had to unplug them to turn them off safely. Even the stairs to the front desk hadn't been shoveled, just cleared with a path through the snow. Sorry to leave this review, but I had to share my thoughts.

The staff were really friendly and kind, but I wouldn't stay again. We were there for one night, and the room was gross, like it hadn't been properly cleaned. There was toothpaste splatter on the bathroom mirror, a used conditioner bottle put back on the counter, stains on the pillows and top sheets, and fingerprints and smudges on the fridge and microwave. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed, there were crumbs on the floor, and already opened, used coffee condiments had been left in the ice bucket. As a housekeeper myself, I was beyond baffled by the cleaning. Do better 🙏🏻

The kids loved the pool, and the staff were friendly and helpful. You can picture how grand this place must have been in its heyday, but the $200 last minute night didn't feel comfortable enough for that price. Some sheets were clean, but other bedding, towels, and carpets were stained. The owner needs to avoid cutting corners and keep up the upgrades, or the place will keep declining. Common areas, halls, and stairwells need cleaning as often as the rooms, and the rooms need more detailed attention. Handrails, walls, and doors should be wiped down at least weekly. My son even spotted a sock under one of our beds. There's potential here, but cleanliness and upkeep need attention.
