Holiday Inn Express Pembroke by IHG

Liz at the breakfast bar deserves a gold medal. She was such a ray of sunshine, and the people here have been friendlier and more welcoming than staff I've met at five-star hotels around the world. I'll be back in Pembroke for work a few times a year, and I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn.

The rooms are still lovely, well kept, and nicely renovated, with great amenities. But lately the service has slipped. Before, when we left before breakfast hours, they would kindly give us a cold breakfast bag to take along, and we really appreciated that. It seems that's stopped, so we're thinking of switching to Best Western across the street, where they seem to care more about their guests. Sometimes the small things matter most. I hope this helps Holiday Inn in Pembroke improve.

The indoor pool was the highlight for me. The water was just right, and towels were available. There’s also a small exercise room. I was here for two work related nights, which cost almost 500 dollars, though my employer covered it. The hotel was clean, my room was neat and even smelled clean, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked properly. Front desk staff were polite, and the dining staff were really friendly. Breakfast was amazing. The TV had the basic channels and more, and the internet was fast and secure with no lag or trouble connecting. Restaurants and shops on the main roads are about a 10 minute drive away. If I’m in the area on my own time, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. That’s my honest opinion. Well done, Holiday Inn Express in Pembroke Ontario.

The room and hotel were clean and well cared for. What disappointed me was finding out only when I checked out just after 10am that breakfast had already ended. Nobody told me at check-in, and I didn't see that detail in the booking information. I thought hotels usually served breakfast until checkout. It would help to put the hours in the confirmation email or booking details.
