Riotel Percé

The cleaning staff did an awesome job, and the restaurant servers were awesome too. But for over $245 a night, being far from services and having to cross the parking lot just to get ice or reach a padlocked hot tub didn’t work for me. The fire pit looked ready, but wasn’t lit. In Matan they lit the fire even on a Tuesday night. Where was the ambience? In the kind of off season when retired people will pay for the view, this still wasn’t for me. I should have booked the Normandine. So disappointing. Dinner was another letdown. I crossed that cold parking lot again and spent $130 on cold vegetables and a cheap amount of bacon and onions with the traditional Gaspésiana cod. The garnish was only a trace, not enough to add flavour to poached cod. The mashed potatoes were perfect. Anyway, not all Riôtel are the same.

We had a spacious room with a nice view of the rock and the sea. Reception were very kind. We’d driven all the way from Montreal and arrived quite early, so they let us have the room as soon as cleaning was finished. There are lots of things within a five-minute walk. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff at the bar were very pleasant. We had a small serving of calamari that was okay, plus a cocktail, then ordered fish and chips. It was the worst fish and chips ever: two large pieces of cod, cold and saturated with oil. It came out far too quickly, probably after sitting in the kitchen for a while. That felt disrespectful. The manager apologized and offered a coupon for the next day instead of a discount on our bill. We won’t go back.

We had a lovely view of Bonaventure Island and Perce Rock from the room. There’s no microwave in the room, but the restaurant opens at 07:00 AM. We were seated promptly with no wait, and the food was good and delicious. The restaurant service was impeccable, and the staff were excellent. The room was clean, and there’s a new terrace/deck.
