Fort Road Motel

The staff were really friendly, and the room was quiet while I was there, so I wasn’t woken up at night. It’s right off the highway, with a good layout, a kitchenette, and a big fridge. The bed was comfy too. Some rooms are going to monthly rentals, which is good for people who need housing, especially with how badly the liberals have messed up housing across Canada. I probably won’t be able to get the room I stayed in again, though.

The roof work made this stay completely unacceptable. We were given a casual heads-up at check-in that work would happen the next morning, as if that counted as fair warning. At 6:45 a.m., the noise started: constant, deafening banging, clanging, thumping, and shouting. The workers also told me to move my car because it was in their way. There were nails and other roof debris scattered across the walkways and stairs guests had to use. The crew was tossing debris from the roof into a container below, right over the heads of people walking past. It was an extremely hazardous situation, and nothing like anything I’ve encountered at a motel. The noise also violated local bylaws, and the way the work was handled was terrible business practice. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Even after the work is done, I don’t think a business that disregards its guests’ comfort and safety so completely deserves support.

Room #2 is now only available for long-term rental. When it was offered for overnight stays, it was very clean, reasonably priced, and right off the highway.

We ended up here without planning to stop during our vacation and got the second-to-last room. It was lovely, especially the amazing bathroom, and the room was clean. That particular room had a heat pump, so it was super crispy cold when we arrived. The woman at the front desk was an absolute charm to talk to, and paying by debit worked since I didn’t have a credit card. The price was much lower than I expected for what we got. I’d stay again for sure, and plan to book ahead next time we pass through. It might become a regular stop for us.
