Motel 6 Peterborough, ON

We keep choosing this Motel 6 when we visit our son, and my husband and I will continue to stay there. The room was clean and tidy, and the front desk staff are second to none, so personable and conscientious. You get what you pay for, and we felt we got plenty of bang for our buck. It's just a room rental for a short stay, so let's keep things in perspective. No complaints from us.

The location worked well for getting to arenas, restaurants, and shops, and the parking lot was spacious and easy to get into. Front desk staff were very nice, brought clean towels each day, and the beds were decently comfortable. But the rooms are small, extremely dated, and need repairs, with stains on the walls. Black lint and dust fell from the bathroom fan, the main stairway was very dirty, and the toilet didn't work. No employee could fix it until after 8:30am, and there wasn't a lobby bathroom to use. The TV was small and awkwardly placed.

We were there because of an emergency, and the place was a waste of money for what you get. A room with two beds costs $147, which is absolutely not worth it. Booking was difficult because the card had to be in the name of the person paying. My friend tried a bunch of cards before finding one that worked, and I ended up covering her share on my damn card. The location is decent, and I liked that the room had hard flooring instead of filthy carpet. That's about it. I remember when this place first opened, and it didn't look so sad and run down. The hallways are pretty much its only redeeming feature. The price should match the condition and cleanliness of the place. The tub clogged while I showered and took forever to drain. There appeared to be poop on the sink counter, and some kind of stains on the bathroom wall. I don't think the top bed sheet gets cleaned, and the bathroom doorknob wasn't clean. Do you clean anything? It seems like the cleaning is rushed and half done. There was no maintenance or cleaning staff when we checked in at 7pm, which is ridiculous and inexcusable. The TV was small and stuck in an awkward corner instead of mounted on the wall. We didn't watch it, just slept and left early. I couldn't figure out how to set the alarm clock. When I complained, they offered to move us to another room, but I should have gotten a discount.

I only stayed at Motel 6 for one night, but it was a very good experience. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable, just what I needed to rest. Check-in went smoothly, the staff were friendly, and the room had the basics I needed. It's budget friendly, yet felt pleasant and convenient. A good option for a hassle-free short stay. 👍
