Peterborough Inn & Suites Hotel

The hotel wouldn't take a call from Expedia to authorize my refund, which felt like a ripoff. I booked the room for one night through Expedia and understood there'd be no refund for a cancellation, but the listing never said parking was street parking only. I was in town for business with a dually truck towing a double axle cargo trailer. With snow removal underway, I couldn't leave it on the street, and the only paid lot couldn't fit the truck and trailer together. I called the hotel to explain. The desk clerk apologized that the lack of available parking hadn't been made clear, then said I would have to request my money back through Expedia. Expedia needed the hotel's authorization, but the hotel refused to take the service person's call. Peterborough has plenty of hotels, so I strongly recommend choosing another one.

For a night or two at a cheap rate, it was fine, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. They were friendly, the room was clean and functional, a basic breakfast was included, the hotel covered the $12 parking fee in a nearby lot, and they gave us a 15% voucher for nearby restaurants. The room itself looked like it hadn't been decorated since the late 1970s. I half expected Starsky and Hutch to burst through the door 😀. The air con unit was incredibly clunky and noisy, and the worn bed felt like sleeping on a trampoline. The price was so low I don't understand how the hotel makes money, but the decor and the bed may put some people off.

We could walk to coffee, restaurants, and the waterfront from this downtown Peterborough location, so we didn't need to drive. Peterborough Inn & Suites Hotel was clean, comfortable, and good value, with all the basics we needed for a quick trip. Check-in was easy, and the staff were friendly. A simple, centrally located place that worked well for us.

The rooms looked better in the website photos. It advertised a pool and gym, but the gym was laughable, just 2 weights and 2 machines, with nothing to wipe them down. There was no on-site parking, so we had to park quite a way from the hotel. The rooms were dark and uninviting.
