I've stayed here many times, often when taking the BC ferries up the inside passage. It's a nice, clean hotel with great rooms and decent wi-fi, handy for downloading movies for the trip up the coast. The front desk can be GROUCHY sometimes, and if you're arriving late, call ahead since check-in shuts down at 2am. Since my last stay, the restaurant has gone from “Meh” to “Yumm! 🙌” The breakfast coffee used to taste like battery acid, but now it's an AMAZING magical elixir. Today it was so good I had another cuppa at lunch. Bravo.

The male staff member at check-in was super friendly, and the manager was absolutely great. The woman working the desk on Friday wasn't friendly at all. As a family with a hockey team, we often feel there's a negative attitude toward us, though some teams do spoil things for others. A few teams were at the hotel, and I'm proud of our team and parents for keeping the kids out of the halls in the evenings. We did find someone else's food left in the fridge, so housekeeping could use some work. Apart from the Friday check-in staff and that food, the hotel was good and close to everything, though I know everything in Port Hardy is close to everything.

We got stuck in Port Hardy for an extra 2 days when BC ferries cancelled a sailing, and fortunately the hotel had a room available. The rooms and beds are comfortable and well designed, and everything was in pristine condition. It was updated 8 years ago but still feels and looks like new construction. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We didn't try the on-site pub, but the restaurant was top notch, with excellent food and service, even though it's not open every night. There's also an impressive native gallery on the second floor. Without a doubt, the best place to stay in Port Hardy.

After a 4 hour drive, we drove right past the hotel because there were no lights on. We pulled in thinking there'd been a power failure, only to be told the outage was planned, the hotel had been without power all day, and they were trying to get a generator working. We decided to cancel and stay somewhere else, but were told we'd still be charged for the room. The front desk insisted we'd been told about the outage when booking, but we hadn't. I don't even think it's legal to run a hotel without power or heat. It took going back to the front desk a 3rd time before we finally got the cancellation.

The patio was a lovely place to have a drink and a meal, and our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We ended up needing a place unexpectedly when the tsunami warning went out in July 2025. We were on a boat at the marina and thought it was sensible to get to higher ground. Even though we arrived at the last minute, the woman at the front desk was kind and found room for us. We've told friends about the hotel and hope to come back when things are less stressful.
