Marland Motel

For a 1 star hotel, this is pretty decent, especially considering it's one of the cheapest motels around. The owners are always available to get you what you need. My one complaint is that too many guests smoke. Smokers tend to be the worst neighbors anywhere.

The owner cancelled our reservation less than 24 hours before check-in. We'd stayed here a couple of years ago on the way home from Desolation Sound. It was dated and run down, but handy and cheap, and after two weeks on the water we just wanted a shower and a bed. So we booked again for this year's trip, more than two weeks ahead, and even called three days before to confirm. At 9:30 p.m. the night before check-in, the owner left a voicemail saying a current customer was staying and our room wasn't available, so we should find somewhere else. I called back and explained how inconvenient that was and that we still wanted the room we'd booked. She offered a number for another place that might have availability. Scrambling for somewhere at 10:30 at night with bad boat reception was a horrible end to the adventure. We ended up at the Marine Inn and won't book at Marland again. I highly recommend the Marine Inn. It seems recently revamped, is clean and well cared for, and the rain shower is blissful.

It's really quiet and comfortable here, and the rooms have been renovated and are absolutely spotless. The woman running the place is super nice, and the bed I'm sleeping in is so good I'd like to take it home, LOL. I don't know why the rating is only 2.9. Like Arnie says, I'll be back :))

For the price, this basic motel was cleaner and friendlier than I expected, and it was quiet. It's close to town and just up from the seawalk. The mattresses are new and have covers, though I wish they were a little softer. The bathroom has a newer sink and vanity. It's no flashy new hotel, but a good value. There was a TV, fridge, kettle, duvet in the closet, and a fan for extra airflow beyond the open windows. My only suggestion is to put microwaves in the rooms.
