Island View Lodge

Only a few rooms seem to have been renovated, those shown in the ad and on the website. If you don't get one, you pay the same for a very old room. In ours, just one outlet worked, the TV was broken, and the main ceiling light didn't work. They only had decaf coffee, apparently no regular coffee at all. The person at the front desk was rude too.

We were in town for a hockey tournament. The room was okay and not completely clean, which I put up with given the price. But mouse droppings sat in the lobby beside the toaster, microwave, and fridge for a good 24 hours, and nobody cleaned them. I went downstairs to report it and couldn't find anyone around. A couple of other hockey parents also left because there were mouse droppings in their rooms. It was a long trip for us to discover this problem. This seemed like a serious health violation, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I reserved a pet friendly two bed suite for two nights through the booking service that answered when I called. I was quoted the price over the phone while on the ferry, then charged another $100 deposit at check-in. When I opened the door, the room had one bed. I said I'd confirmed a two bed room by phone, but they denied it and said a two bed room cost another $20 or $30. They wouldn't refund me directly and said I had to contact the booking service. The booker claimed they'd offered me the two bed unit and I'd turned it down, which is a lie. Why wouldn't I have taken it? They said they could refund just one of the two nights. I refused because I wanted both nights refunded so I could book somewhere else. I told them I'd dispute the charge through my bank because this was switch and bait, and said I'd leave a bad review and report it to local police. I didn't stay there, so why should I pay? Go somewhere else. These people are liars and cheats.

The door lock was broken and the lights didn't work when I arrived for work. I couldn't change rooms for two days. When I finally moved, the lights and outlets in that room also didn't work. I asked the front desk worker about the outlets; she came in, tried the light switch several times, and when I asked why it wasn't working, she said, "but it's on now." I've stayed in much cheaper places where the lights, outlets, and door lock worked. This place isn't worth a cent. DO NOT STAY HERE. I wish I could upload my videos, but it won't work.
