Carmel Inn

I’ve stayed here several times over the past two years, and there’s always been some issue, from missing bathtub plugs to rooms that were visibly dirty. I liked the pet-friendly policy, but this time I had specifically asked for a room away from the stairs because of the noise. When I checked in and asked if my room was under the stairs, the male clerk was rude and dismissive. He said, “You do want to stay here,” which felt intimidating since I didn’t want to look for another place on short notice. He tossed me the key and admitted he was retaliating because he said I’d jrew the pen after I set it down. I told staff the next day, but the manager was away and nobody could take my complaint. I even brought my own cleaning supplies to feel sure the room was clean. I took photos and wish I could add them.

I had to cancel my motorcycle trip through Prince George because of the weather. The Carmel Inn staff were great on the phone and refunded me even though it was a late cancellation. I’d booked an affordable room and will definitely stay there when I reschedule.

The room was quiet and comfortable, and we could control the temperature ourselves. There was plenty of parking for any size vehicle or trailer, and it was easy to take the dog out. We also had space beside the bed for a large dog bed. We booked directly without trouble, and the staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and with our questions. At first everything looked clean, but then we noticed the bathroom needed more attention. The front desk responded quickly and fixed the issue, which we appreciated. We enjoyed the convenient location and would come back.

After my husband had travelled for 12 exhausting hours, the staff refused to give him the room he’d already booked because they didn’t “like” his card. It was the same card he’d used on several past stays, including just two months earlier. Suddenly it was a problem, and they offered no help, solutions, or alternatives. They sent him away late at night to scramble for somewhere else. When I called to try to sort it out, the front desk wouldn’t let me speak with a manager and treated me with complete disrespect. The staff were rude and unprofessional. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had, with awful service and inconsistent policies. The Carmel Inn should be ashamed. We’ll never stay here again. Do better.
