We were left scrambling when April Point Resort cancelled our booking less than two weeks before our stay, right before a busy long weekend when finding another place was nearly impossible. We had planned this trip for our 10-year wedding anniversary, so instead of celebrating, we were trying to sort out a last-minute replacement. They suggested moving us to a “hotel across the street,” but it was actually across the ocean in Campbell River. When we called, that hotel had no rooms available. We know renovations can happen, but it’s hard to believe they only learned of them so close to our dates. Guests should have been told sooner. The way they handled this felt careless and unprofessional. If you book here, have a backup plan, especially for an important trip.

The setting is still a real draw, with beautiful surroundings and wildlife and cruise ships passing strikingly close by. April Point Resort has clearly seen better days and shows wear from a lack of maintenance, so anyone expecting its former luxurious feel may be disappointed. Still, it was clean, reasonably priced, and pleasant enough. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and it works as a budget-conscious stay if ocean access and scenery matter more to you than luxury.

The room was lovely, very clean, and had no problems during our stay. I especially liked the large, luxurious bathtub, which could fit two people comfortably. The staff were kind and went out of their way to make things comfortable, even setting up an outlet for me to charge my electric vehicle. Food was the real surprise. Coming from Vancouver, I didn't expect much in such a remote place, but Chef Jane and the team completely blew me away. We started with truffle soup and seafood chowder, then had halibut and seafood linguine. Chef Jane was very accommodating, and the dishes rivaled or even exceeded food at the best restaurants in major cities. Delicious food, spectacular service, and an unbeatable view. It was the highlight of my April Point trip, and I’ll definitely be back. A fabulous experience all around.

My whole family wished we'd stayed longer. The ocean-view rooms were clean and perfectly fine for us, and although the restaurant was closed, we found good restaurants and a decent breakfast nearby on Quadra island. We could sit outside with a bottle of wine we brought along, enjoying the wildlife, the view, and the sunset. The location is spectacular. Other reviews are right that April Point has seen better days, though there's visible effort going into improvements. There's still room to improve.

This resort needs a lot of repairs to get back to what it once was, and it has so much potential. From our room we had the most incredible wildlife experience I've ever had, though I don't know if it was the time of year or the location. We saw whales, sea lions, seals, eagles, and schools of herring, then watched cruise ships sail by all lit up in the evening. What a beautiful spot.
