Ambassadeur Hotel

The location is good, though the hotel management can't take credit for that. Two nights cost us around $500, and the hotel and rooms felt dated and weren't particularly clean. Front desk service was very nonchalant, and we literally had to call someone out from the back room. Our rooms hadn't been restocked, and when I asked for room accessories, the staff gave me the wrong ones. The pool water was glacial, so unpleasant that we stayed only ten minutes.

The pool was the highlight, and my daughter was delighted by the little bird and its eggs. The spotless room made our baby's first hotel stay a special memory, and the place felt very family-friendly. It's also really close to Old Québec, so getting around downtown was easy.

Loud children were allowed to run through the halls, and we had to change rooms because of a noisy event on the first floor. The front desk wasn't very helpful. I wouldn't recommend this location for a business function.

After a long four-hour drive with our toddler, we arrived to find that there was no room for us, even though we had paid in full and confirmed the booking through Expedia in advance. Staff offered no immediate solution, so we had to insist repeatedly before they found an alternative. Eventually they moved us to Hotel Universel, which was dirty and much lower quality. It was already night, and with a small child we had no choice but to accept. Selling a room, taking full payment, then saying nothing is available is unacceptable. The management was very poor and showed no accountability. I'd strongly advise other travelers, especially families, against booking here if they don't want to risk being left without a room after paying in full.
