Hôtel du Nord

My friend and I had a lovely stay. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room looked well-kept rather than aged, and the bathroom was clean. I especially liked the toiletries, and breakfast was provided. There were lots of parking spaces and the price was reasonable. The room next door was noisy, though, and there's no elevator.

The staff spoke some English, which was a relief since we don't know much French. We stayed for four nights, and the price was good for a room with breakfast and parking. There was plenty of parking behind the hotel across its two lots. Our room was cozy and clean, with a great shower and a mini fridge. It was tiny, but we mostly went out and only came back to sleep or rest a few hours between trips around town. Some people may want more space. We knew there was no elevator and that the building had three floors, but carrying our things up and down from the third floor for four nights was a lot. The included breakfast was basic, with no bacon and eggs or even a small fryer. The area outside looked a little rundown, which made us wonder about safety. Still, nothing happened while we were outside, and the car was undamaged in its spot. I also heard Quebec city has a lower crime rate.

There was plenty of room for our family, and breakfast in the morning was convenient with kids. The indoor pool was available for relaxing at the hotel, and parking was free.

Breakfast was a serious disappointment: there wasn't much to choose from, the food was poor, and things sat uncovered on the counter for a long time. I also found the rooms cramped, the beds uncomfortable, and there was no hot water. The pool was supposed to be heated, but it wasn't. A really unpleasant stay, and I wouldn't recommend this place.
