Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Red Deer

A really good hotel, with clean rooms, a great location, and good breakfast. There was no waterslide, despite what Google Photos showed, though that's not the hotel's fault. I also had a weird electrical problem: the light in my room switched on by itself at random. Otherwise, it was great.

Booking was easy, and the sales manager was lovely to deal with. Everyone on staff we met was friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself was clean, spacious, and well kept. What I hadn't thought through was the Gasoline Alley location. Every morning at 5:30, rig workers started their trucks and left them running for about half an hour. We could hear them and feel the vibration even on the second floor, and the fumes were so strong we could practically taste them. There was no sleeping through it. If you're already up early, it may be fine, but if you want to sleep past 5:30 a.m., I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Service was good, and the room was clean. But the HVAC kept cycling on and off every 30 seconds and was really noisy, on top of sounds coming through the thin walls from other rooms. There was graffiti in the elevators, too. Most of breakfast was good, except the fruit was rotten.

I'm not coming back. Breakfast was below average and took too long to restock. The pool needs work, the hot tub was disgusting, and they never kept enough towels available. Also, don't leave anything behind at checkout, because later they'll say they can't find it.
