Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Regina East Gate

Breakfast was another problem: the toaster only toasted one side, the waffle maker wasn’t working properly, and the food was overcooked. A commercial truck ran all night and made it hard to sleep. When the pullout couch turned out to have dirty sheets and no blankets or pillows, no one answered the phone. The man was hiding in the office, and all he gave me was a small blanket and one pillow. We were first moved because our room had no heat, and staff said nothing could be done until the next day. Their attempt to fix it failed, so they put us in a bigger room with fewer beds and a pullout couch. The fridge didn’t work either, but they replaced it. The hotel is run down, with safety hazards from heaving carpet that can trip you. Flooring, showers, bedding, and furnishings are in terrible shape and nothing seems maintained. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else. Hampton corporate needs to visit and take action because this reflects badly on the brand.

We found a cockroach in our room on the second night, which was really unpleasant and unexpected. Noise from cleaning in the hallway and the floor above woke us early throughout our stay and disrupted our rest. The room also felt run down. The curtains were coming apart, one had what looked like an iron burn, and the wallpaper and walls showed a lot of wear. The toilet seat wouldn’t stay in place unless held by hand. The comforter felt worn, and its textured fabric made it hard to sleep comfortably. For a Hilton property, this stay fell short of the comfort and quality we expect from Hampton Inn. We hope management addresses the maintenance problems and makes significant updates.

I was shocked to see reports of the same raised carpet hazard going back to last year with nothing done about it. Maybe a lawsuit that costs the hotel serious money would get its maintenance practices back on track. The chairs looked so disgusting to me that I wouldn’t even have one in my garage, never mind in a hotel. It shouldn’t cost management much to replace them. Little things matter when someone has paid a lot for good service and customer satisfaction. And the lifting carpet is a safety hazard.

We’ve usually been pleased with Hampton Inns, but our latest stay at Hampton Inn east gate in Regina was disappointing. The breakfast room was clean, the food selection was good and varied, and the staff there were pleasant and attentive. The hotel itself, though, felt rundown and needs significant maintenance. The hall carpets were uneven and needed stretching, creating a tripping hazard, and the carpet in our room clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. We asked for a dog friendly room but were put on the 4th floor in a room no different from the others. No one told us about the roof maintenance. Several times, no one was at the front desk, and we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. One of the two elevators also needed maintenance. We don’t plan to return.
