Sunrise Motel

The room was badly beaten up, with holes in the walls, burns all over the tub, and doors to both the room and bathroom that looked like they’d been kicked in. People upstairs slammed doors so hard the room shook, and there was screaming all night. At 8 a.m. we went to check out and found a homeless man who seemed under the influence looking through our car windows. About thirty seconds later, he was at our room door, kicking it while I was there with three young kids. My husband stood between him and the door so he couldn’t get in. Then the man wandered around knocking on other rooms’ windows. The office was meant to open at 8, but nobody came until I called. When I told the staff member about the man, she asked who he was as if we were supposed to know, then brushed it off like it was normal. The condition of the room matched what you’d expect for the price.

The calm, welcoming feel made Sunrise Motel a nice place to relax. My room was clean, comfortable, and well looked after, and the staff did more than expected to make sure things went well. It’s in a quiet spot that’s still conveniently close to local attractions. I really enjoyed my stay and will be back. I’d recommend Sunrise Motel to anyone wanting a peaceful, pleasant visit.

After an exhausting eight-hour drive from Calgary to Regina, we reached Sunrise Motel at 2 a.m. Friday and found the office closed with nobody there to check us in. I called and was told check-in was at 3 p.m., even though when I called Thursday to confirm, I’d explained we would arrive at 2 a.m. and the reservation desk confirmed that time and said it was arranged. They had also required full payment in advance. I tried to explain what had happened, but got no empathy or help. They refused my refund request, referring to their policy, so I’m pursuing a formal complaint and keeping the case open. This was deeply frustrating. Once they had the full payment, they gave no support and didn’t honor the check-in time they’d agreed to. I wouldn’t recommend Sunrise Motel, especially to families or travelers who need reliability and basic customer service.
