The shuttle experience during our recent stay at the Vancouver Sheraton Airport Hotel was disappointing. I often stay at Marriott properties for work and expect consistent service, especially at an airport hotel where timing matters. My wife and I were hurrying through the lobby with our seven-month-old, our four-year-old, car seats, stroller and luggage. The driver saw us coming, then went outside. Just as we reached the back of the shuttle to load, he started it and began pulling away. We had to yell to get him to stop. Once we were outside, we were scolded that the shuttle leaves at 5:30 sharp because it's shared with other hotels. We understand the schedule. What was upsetting was the lack of basic awareness or help. A little patience while a family with young children gets on would have made a big difference. Leaving us at the bus as we were boarding reflects poorly on the hotel's service. As a loyal Marriott guest, this has put me off choosing this property again.

The Sheraton has the necessities, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Housekeeping kindly brought daily items even though I had the DND sign up. Two things bothered me, though. All four pillows were feather pillows with almost no support. I used all four and they still went flat. I'd suggest offering two of those and two firmer options, like the DoubleTree pillows, which I think are among the best in hotels. The toilet paper was also so thin it was nearly see-through. It took several sheets to avoid them tearing, so I suspect guests use more of it than they would of a standard roll. I understand the environmental concern, but cutting quality this much isn't the answer. Sheraton isn't a budget hotel. Bedding and bathroom basics matter a lot to regular travellers, so the quality should be better.

The team made this a comfortable stay, and I would gladly return to the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel. Andrea and Miguel at the front desk were welcoming and efficient, while doorman Manpreet was attentive and friendly. John, also a doorman, went out of his way with my luggage and made arriving and leaving stress-free. Dining was excellent too. Alan provided great service while overseeing interim dining, Namdida made breakfast a pleasure, and at Harold’s, Yvonne was a fantastic server with Kori and Nandani keeping everything running smoothly. Marvin, the Duty Manager, clearly cared about guests and led the team well. A+ team, highly recommend!

After my flight at YVR was cancelled, the airline sent me to the Sheraton Vancouver Airport for the night. Despite getting little notice that about 80 rooms would suddenly fill with unhappy travellers, every person I dealt with, from the front desk and restaurant to housekeeping and the lobby, was genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help. My room was nice, clean and quiet, with individual temperature and air controls that worked well. Richmond is also a great area for food, with lots of good little restaurants.
