The close, cozy camping spots have their own charm, and the laid-back feel made it easy to chat with other travellers. We spent a couple of weeks crossing Canada in our RV, and this was one of our favourite stops.

The summer kitchen and shared firepit were the heart of the campground for us. There were fridges, a small freezer, stove, BBQ, kettle, toaster, coffee makers, and basic kitchen gear and supplies, so it was easy to cook and meet people. The showers were excellent, with plenty of hot water, and the rustic shower room, separate toilet, and sink were clean and attractive. My only real gripe was that one toilet often meant a line. We had a tent site that was small and had no firepit, but the ground was well prepared for drainage and easy to pitch on. You park nearby rather than right at your site, which ended up being nice because cars weren't driving around the campground. The place is small, quiet, and well kept. The cliff-top sites have a great view, though reaching them means a steep 10-15 minute hike each way, and you'd miss the kitchen and social area at the main camp. Staff were all friendly, especially Aurelie, who gave us useful tips and even booked our whale watching. A friend and I stayed in a tent last week and had a great visit.

The people working there were incredibly nice and spoke English well. We stayed up at the fjord overlook, where there was prepared firewood and blueberries all around, which was a lovely bonus. Getting there meant a 10-15 minute walk from the parking area. That was easy enough with our light tent, but with a big tent and small kids I'd factor it in and maybe stay at the base instead. The base had a nicely equipped kitchen and, at the time, just one shower and toilet, though I think replacements were being built. The shelter design seemed a little exposed to wind and rain, though I may have missed the reason for it. Being able to hang out together in the kitchen was nice too.

The staff were the best part of our stay. They welcomed us warmly, checked in whenever we crossed paths, were responsive, and most of them spoke two languages. Thank you all. But the rest of the night was rough. Mosquitoes ate us alive even though we used repellents, and this was my first camping trip, so the experience was completely spoiled. Staff had said the kitchen stayed open all night, but when we went to make dinner after 10 pm, the lights were off and we struggled to turn them on. The lights were off in the bathroom and shower area too, so we couldn't use them at night. When I asked in the morning, the staff said that was strange. We tried to climb to the mountain top, and it was hard and rough. It definitely took longer than 10-15 minutes unless you're an athlete or experienced, and cloudy weather meant we didn't get the sunset view. I had wanted to sleep on the top platform, but with a 2-year-old it wasn't safe. To the owner: I expected a response like yours after seeing how you'd replied to other negative reviews. Sarcasm and irresponsibility make it seem like you can't handle your business, especially when you have kind people working without pay. And turning off the lights at night says a lot. You could take management and customer service courses, though I doubt that would cure greed or rudeness.

We had a lovely time cooking meals, using the BBQ and hot tub, and playing games by the cozy stove. Meeting other travellers and swapping stories was another highlight. Benoit, Julie, and the rest of the staff were friendly and went out of their way to look after everyone. The place was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. We also hiked to the "Belvedere" for a beautiful fjord view, just 10 minutes away.
