The owner was friendly, but there seemed to be no upkeep since the 50s. The whole place smelled of mold, and every bed was uncomfortable. The sofa bed was awful, not even suitable for a child to sleep on. The floor was very crooked, so the bathroom door rubbed against it and wouldn't open or close all the way. The chairs were stained, the heater was poorly secured to the wall, and pipes ran up to the ceiling. There were sheets in a glass window, and just a little leftover soap in a pot for the whole apartment. Don't pay in cash, since you won't get a receipt. Go somewhere else if you can; it'll be better. I used a pseudonym because someone has my credit card number and address, and I think the owner himself writes the positive comments on this site. I can't imagine anyone liking the place, and he spends a lot of time at his computer on the front terrace instead of looking after the house or cleaning it.

We had to cancel our one-night booking for July 1st, 2023, which we made on June 26th, because of an urgent health issue. Denis made an exception and let us cancel without a fee. Thanks for the help and kindness, Denis.

The house has lots of little retro details, nice woodwork, and a big balcony facing the grocery store right out front. Denis was a great host, taking us in at the last minute without a reservation and helping us out a lot. A real little gem ;)

I booked on July 31st for August 9th, planning a trip to Prince Edward Island, but had to cancel two days later because of Covid-19, still five days before the stay. The person there didn't speak English, so we emailed to explain and someone came the following day to read it. They wouldn't accept the cancellation and charged my credit card the full amount, even though the cancellation document clearly listed a lower penalty. I have to call my bank and find out how to complain.

The owner was friendly, but didn't wear a mask or follow Covid protocols. We rented a poorly built studio at the back, and the cleaning was lacking, with crumbs on the counters and previous guests' hair in the bathroom. The bunk beds felt dangerous.
