Auberge des Berges

It’s an older building with lots of stairs, but the room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was solid for a reasonable price. The setting by the river was lovely, with chairs and tables outside for relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful, and communicated well in both English and French. I’d mentioned in the reservation comments that I liked stronger coffee. They made a stronger pot for breakfast and checked whether I enjoyed it. I also appreciated their effort to cut down on waste: they used china and real flatware at breakfast, and had recycling bins for juice boxes and yogurt tubs, as well as in the rooms. Kudos!

The stay turned out much better than I expected from earlier reviews. The place has been renovated, and the beds and sheets were comfortable. Our room was a little below ground, but that was fine. We could hear water running when someone flushed, though it didn’t bother us. The double bed was on the small side, but we knew what we were booking. Outside there’s a hot tub, chairs, and picnic tables along the water. The continental breakfast was included and pretty good, with cereal, bagels, croissants, toast, muffins, fruit, and yogurt. The dining area has a nice solarium with views.

We waited because nobody was at reception. The only person there was the cleaning lady, and she wasn’t helpful.

The inn is right by the water, and the outdoor setup is lovely, with beautiful sunsets. There’s a popular jacuzzi that you can reserve at the front desk. Breakfast is simple, with no hot dishes, but everything was tasty. We ate in the lovely sunroom overlooking the water, with fresh fruit and good hot coffee. I took off a star because the internet signal in our room was weak and inconvenient.
