The Sand Castle Suites Motel

For a longer work stay, I'm enjoying this place. My room is quite good, with a great bed, a clean space, a nice veranda, a good kitchen, lots of closets, and a big wardrobe. Nobody bothers you, and the people staying here are friendly. The managers are nice and work hard, too, even though the place has some rough edges and clients. The monthly price is a little high, and I've found cheaper places, but this is by the month. The air conditioning isn't great, though a good fan helps. Wi-Fi is awful: most of the time I can't connect, and when I do, it still performs badly. The carpets are dirty and smell of dog. This isn't a tourist hotel, and I wouldn't pick it for a vacation with friends or family. There are better options for that, with pools. As a place to live for a while when working up here, though, it's pretty good. Phone service and mobile data are generally poor around here; apparently Roger’s works a little better.

The rooms are fully renovated and clean, and it's really quiet. Great staff, too.

The office staff were very friendly and willing to help, but I won't stay here again or recommend it. We were there for four nights, and even though it costs less than other hotels, I feel a bit resentful about what we paid. The room was dirty: sticky, greasy stove and kitchen, dust bunnies hanging from the ceiling, dirt in corners, and dirty carpets. The bed was comfortable and the sheets clean, but they were worn, with a tear at the side, and the bedspread looked visibly worn. The room smelled nice, though I suspect that was to cover the dirt. It was advertised as air conditioned, but the beds were in separate rooms and the AC was in a small room. Even with its door open, the cold air stayed there, so this shouldn't be advertised as air conditioned. The bathtub was worn, and its non slip strips were so worn that slipping was a hazard. The hallways smelled of cigarettes, and there was animal hair all over the carpet despite the no pets policy. The furniture is old and sticky. This place needs a major upgrade.

The room was okay, but dusty under the beds, TV stand, and bathroom heater. There were no face towels, the stairway carpet was dirty, and things in the room were falling apart.
