The young woman who checked me in was very friendly and welcoming. The rest of the Comfort Inn Simcoe experience was an embarrassment. My shower was held together with plumber's tape, and the room carpet was stained and worn. I can only guess what was on it. Every room door slammed shut with a loud, disturbing thud, at all hours of the day and night. The “free” breakfast was no better. I can’t think of anything positive about breakfast or the stay.

The stained rugs all looked questionable and seem due for replacement. The breakfast setup needs more tables too. If the entrance were moved behind the couch in the lobby, there’d be room for them, and I wouldn’t have to stand to eat each morning. The room doors all slam shut, and having a housekeeper or maintenance person look at them won’t fix it. Maybe lighter, new doors would help. Same issues with the rooms, doors, and breakfast as the other comment. Oof.

Breakfast was included in the $128-a-night rate for a room with two queen beds. But the phone in the room didn’t work, and the shower took about ten minutes to get hot. The heater and air conditioner were extremely noisy, and none of their controls worked. There wasn’t a binder with things to do in Simcoe or places to eat, and no phone numbers for fast food delivery either.

During our two-day stay, the hotel provided complimentary coffee and juice, and breakfast was good. Our room was nice and clean, and the service was friendly and helpful.

We tried four rooms before finding one we could settle into because they smelled very musty and like mold. The shower didn’t work in one of them. The HVAC, AC units, and ventilation all need servicing, and the rooms badly need updating and maintenance. We did have a quiet night, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
