St. Albert Inn & Suites

The pool was a good size and my kids loved it; the hot tub was a nice extra. We didn't try the attached restaurant. This was a handy, affordable place to spend one night, close to St. Albert amenities and much cheaper than the major hotel chains nearby. The room and bathroom were clean, with plenty of towels, and the rooms seem to have been updated. The beds were comfortable and had lots of pillows, but the bedding was rough and scratchy. The hotel is older, and being near the elevator meant plenty of hallway and elevator noise. We also heard a lot from upstairs whenever someone flushed or showered. The shower heads need updating, and it took so long for the bath water to get hotter than warm that our bath or shower was nearly over by then. If you're after luxury, this probably isn't the place; for a budget stay, it does the job if you can live with some noise and dated features.

We were in room 207 at the St. Albert Inn for one night, and it was a bad stay. The beds were awful, the air conditioner was loud all night but didn't cool the room, and there was mold in the bathroom. There were no outlets by the bed, and one wall outlet was missing its electrical plate. The carpet was lifting and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The pool area was decent. We left something behind and called on checkout day, but were told to call the next day because housekeeping hadn't cleaned the room. When we called back, they said it wasn't there. I stay in hotels often, including this one, and I'm not very critical, but this wasn't a good experience. I don't think we'll return, and based on this stay I wouldn't recommend it.

We stay here for the restaurant and water slide, but after this visit we won't anymore. We'd been waiting 20 minutes, as had two other tables, while one of the two waitresses cleaned random things. There were ten people already there before we arrived. Update: after 40 minutes my husband still hadn't ordered or gotten coffee. The table behind us had ordered coffee before we got there and still didn't have it. But a regular came in and promptly got his drinks and food.

The kids loved the pool, water slide, and salt water hot tub, and the coin laundry was very useful. Detergent and dryer sheets were available to buy at the front desk. We also appreciated the hot breakfast, included in the room price, and that kids eat free. There's an on-site pub attached as well. The hotel isn't new, but it's clean, well kept, reasonably priced, and welcoming to pets and kids. Everyone was friendly and made the children feel at home, especially Andrew at the front desk. This was my third stay while visiting my grandkids in Edmonton. This time I booked three days for myself, my daughter, the kids, and their cat while we waited to take possession of their new home after a move. Having a place to stay made a difficult situation much less traumatic. I'm very grateful to everyone for a wonderful stay.
