Travelodge by Wyndham Grand Falls

Inside, the motel has had some upgrades, though the room is clearly worn. It was clean, with decent beds, and worked fine for a night's sleep. Breakfast was very basic, just coffee, toast, and cereal. The outside isn't much to look at, and the room lighting is sparse. The toilet needs a second flush. It's a typical budget motel, a decent place to sleep.

The bed was fine, but the rest of the room felt ancient. Breakfast was stale bagels with nothing to put on them, and there wasn't anything else available. I was also charged more than a hundred dollars on my credit card and haven't been able to get it refunded. They don't even ask for ID at check-in. Spend a bit more and stay at a real hotel. I won't be back.

The service was great and the beds were comfy. The floors could have used a good mopping, though. We didn't stay for breakfast because it starts at 7:30, which was too late for us since we left early. The baseboard heaters are pretty loud, and the train tracks are right behind the hotel, so you hear trains all night going “beeeeeeep, beeeeeeeeep.” If a quiet night's sleep matters to you, well, LOL 😅. Otherwise, it's good for a night or two.

The room was a nice size, with comfortable beds, a big shower, a fridge, actually two, and a microwave. Breakfast was minimal but did the trick: cereal, bread, bagels, coffee, and juice. It's okay for a rest during an overnight trip, but unfortunately we won't stay again. The website shows scrambled eggs while describing the free continental breakfast, but there were definitely no eggs. It also says there's “a 24/7 multilingual front desk staff,” but the desk wasn't open when we arrived at 9:00 pm. A sign said to call if the office was closed, and they did arrive within five minutes after we called. The reason we won't return is what happened at check-in. There was a power outage across town, so we went to relatives' house until power came back. When we returned at 10:45 pm and got our key, I opened the room door and walked in on four people who were sleeping there. The front desk apologized and said they'd checked some people in during the outage, when their system was down, and didn't know which rooms they'd assigned. I still don't understand that excuse. Pen and paper work during a power outage, and writing down room assignments should have been a priority.
