The Elizabeth Manor Guesthouse

We booked through Hotels.ca, then noticed an extra charge of over 15% of the original price on our card, applied directly by the owner without our consent. When we called, he said he'd call back in an hour because he was "just getting on a helicopter." Several hours later, there was still no call. We reached him again, but he wouldn't honor the advertised price and wasn't pleasant to talk to. We had to seek a refund through Hotels.ca. After more than 10 hours of phone calls, we finally got our money back over a month later. The owner was "unavailable" when they tried to contact him, and Hotels.ca eventually gave up and reimbursed us. We visit St. John's often, and this was by far our worst experience. Go elsewhere.

The Battle Harbour Executive Apt. was a great place for our five-day stay. Having a separate entrance and private patio was convenient, and it was easy to get to the main kitchen for breakfast. The location made it possible to walk everywhere. I'd highly recommend Elizabeth Manor for a stay in St.John’s.

We liked the stay so much that after the first few nights we booked again for our return to St. John’s before flying home. The rooms, accommodation and breakfast were all good, and we enjoyed the conversations too. The location is just at the edge of downtown, so it's convenient but nice and quiet. When I first contacted Elizabeth Manor, I spoke briefly on the phone with Rob and had a good feeling about staying there. The hosts, Rob & Brenda, treat everyone like a friend. Rob was such a good host, and I loved hearing his stories. The house is 120 years old and full of character. Our room was huge, and the location was convenient for downtown without the noise. Breakfast was definitely more than a standard continental. You need to stay here!
