Hometel On Signal Hill

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the washroom spotless. My flight was delayed, so I arrived for check-in at 3 am and was welcomed by a very friendly staff member. Breakfast was simple, with fresh, delicious muffins, boiled eggs, jam, and coffee or tea. The location was everything, and I’ll definitely stay at the same hotel on my next trip.

The rooms are modern and clean, and it's a comfortable place to relax between outings. I've stayed here several times over the past few years, and parking has only been a hassle once. I did enjoy the breakfast the one morning I managed to get up before 9:30, though usually I need to set an alarm for it. :-)

It's a tidy, well-maintained hotel, and you can walk to downtown from here. The third-floor rooms mean quite a climb, so if stairs are an issue, ask for a lower room. On a warm day, check that you've been given the A/C remote.

The location is hard to beat: you're at the foot of Signal Hill, with Water Street's shops and restaurants within walking distance. The heritage site is walkable too, but the hill up to it is steep. Staff were helpful and the front desk was staffed around the clock. Parking can fill up, so you might end up on the street a way from your unit. Upper-floor rooms are reached by stairs, though street-level first-floor suites are available if you let them know ahead of time. Breakfast is a free continental spread from 7:30 to 9:30, and they have takeaway cups for the coffee. Highly recommended.
