Stardust Motel Timberlea

There was a slight smoke smell in the non-smoking room, which was my only complaint. The room looked out over the lake, and the view was beautiful. The location was convenient too, close to the highways and not too far from the city.

Staff were friendly, and the patio beside the lake was a calm, pleasant spot. The room was adequate, but the pillows were small and uncomfortable. Although smoking wasn't supposed to be allowed, there was a smoking bench right outside our room, so we had to keep the window shut. Parking was tight, and the security deposit was actually more than the room cost before taxes. It's not far from things in the city, but we probably won't go back.

Owner Pat Poylos was extremely rude and unfriendly. Save yourself the frustration and stay somewhere else. This place badly needs new management, proper training, and a reminder of what hospitality is meant to be.

We were there August 2nd to 3rd, and left with a bad impression. The room was clean, had a nice view, and the new air conditioning worked well. But there was a strange smell that lingered the whole time. The check-in mix-up was the bigger issue. We'd booked a suite, but were first given a key to someone else's room. It was occupied, with their belongings inside. That's a serious privacy and security breach, as well as unprofessional. At the desk, staff acknowledged the mistake and gave us another key, but it was for a regular room, not the suite we'd paid for. When we raised it again, they initially said we hadn't booked a suite. After some back and forth, they admitted we had, but all the suites were taken. They offered to refund the $20 difference. For the price we paid, though, there weren't any amenities or perks to make it feel worthwhile. Cigarette smoke reeked around the motel. Smoking may not be allowed inside rooms, but people stood right outside their doors to smoke, and the smell came into ours whenever the window or door was open. Very unpleasant. The location and views give the place some potential, but poor service and lack of professionalism made the stay a disappointment. We wouldn't stay here again.
