Hampton Inn by Hilton Timmins

The front desk staff were nice, and after my stay hotel management reached out and kindly apologized for the problems, so I raised my rating. The first room had a really strong cleaning chemical smell, so we switched rooms. The next one was a little better, but the older lady who showed us there was crabby and didn’t say a word. The AC and heat were very loud and jolted between runs, and there was mold in the showers. Breakfast was among the worst I’ve had at a hotel: few options, stale and dirty, with watery, really bad scrambled eggs. They need to clean consistently.

The room chair was wobbly and unstable, and I didn’t like the old shower head or its weak pressure. The shower matters a lot at a hotel, and this one was easy to get wrong. The hotel was clean, but I also don’t like bar soap. I’d give it five stars if they put liquid shower gel or soap in the showers and switched to newer, stronger shower heads.

Guests have until 11 am to check out, so don’t knock on their door at 8 am to ask if they’re leaving. It’s none of the staff’s business before checkout time if no trouble is being caused. Waking guests early to remind them to check out is rude.

Check-in was easy, and reception was friendly. But when we got to the room, it hadn’t been cleaned, so we had to change rooms. They gave us snacks to apologize, which was nice. I’ve stayed mostly at Hilton hotels, and this one was disappointing.
