The breakfast was fresh and tasty, and I had a wonderful stay in the house. I was lucky to get one of the biggest rooms in the B&B. It was warm and nicely furnished, with a beautiful, quiet Victoria-style feel. The building’s layout made sense, and with about four rooms per floor, it felt peaceful and relaxed, especially for someone new to Toronto.

It’s a lovely old Victorian house in a central spot, so it was easy to get around the city. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the price very reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt very safe. I’d recommend it.

The rooftop terrace was a lovely bonus, and the weather let us enjoy it right outside our room. My friend and I stayed in two rooms on the third floor from 5/16-5/18 while visiting the Kusama exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Beverly Place was a great base, with the gallery, Eaton Center, and downtown all within walking distance.

The place was quite clean, and the location and price were good. It’s near Chinatown and the Kensington market area, fairly central, and Toronto’s public transit makes getting around easy. There’s a nice Bechstein grand piano on the ground floor, too. Parking behind the house is very limited and costs $15/day. We left our car there and walked or took the bus so we wouldn’t risk losing the spot. The price is pretty good, but you don’t get a whole lot for it. There’s no breakfast, at least for now, so you’ll need to find it elsewhere. Our bed wasn’t comfortable. The booking process didn’t inspire confidence. There’s no way to book on the website, so we had to call. After the first conversation I wasn’t sure we were actually expected, so closer to the trip we emailed to check that we were still on the calendar. He confirmed and asked us to call on the day. That morning, while we were heading up, we were told to call an hour before arrival. We did, but no one answered. About 15 minutes before we got there, he picked up and said he’d let the housekeeper know. Each call left me feeling like he’d forgotten about us. My husband had initially been told we’d have a room with a balcony, but the room we were shown had none. An electrician was still working on an outlet, so we waited outside for about 10 minutes while he finished.
