Sandman Signature Langley Hotel

The restaurant was top notch, especially the eggs Benny. The hotel is a little older, but the clean, cozy room was quiet despite the traffic outside, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff were excellent and accommodating. Really nice place to stay, I'd happily come back and recommend it.

I usually stay at Sandman Hotels and have always spoken highly of them, so I was disappointed with our visit. We booked two nights for my mom's 75th birthday, and although I asked for extra amenities and whether anything special could be done for her, nothing had been arranged. I'd also paid for an upgrade. Check-in was slow, there were no extra amenities, and the room had no bathrobes, despite saying they were included. I had to ask for one to be brought up. There were kids' crayons left on the floor, which the cleaners had missed. On the first morning, with the door locked and our do not disturb sign up, someone knocked and tried to open it. It just didn't feel like the usual Sandman experience, which was disappointing after I'd spoken so highly of the hotel to my mom.

The loud traffic bothered me most. Even with the windows shut, trucks passing by made it sound like I was standing beside the highway, and it was hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. We also saw a mouse running around while dining at the Moxies in house. When the table told the server, they said, “oh yea that’s just Jeffrey” 😅 The room had some good points: it felt like a mini apartment, with a full kitchen, laundry in the suite, a separate bedroom, and a balcony with seating. The staff were friendly and attentive. Still, the bed was far too soft for me, and even with two thermostats it was hard to get the temperature comfortable. There were water bugs on the bathroom floor, which might be expected in that environment.

I liked the room itself, especially the small kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, and a few other small appliances. But being put in room #106, at the far end of the first floor, made for a very poor night. The bedroom was beside a back door leading to the hotel's meeting rooms, and around 11:30pm-12:30am people kept going in and out, talking and making noise. It came straight through to the bedroom even with the windows shut, so I couldn't get to sleep promptly or get enough rest. I nearly called the front desk to ask for another room, but it was after midnight and moving all my belongings would have been a huge inconvenience. The hotel should put guests' comfort first. If they keep assigning that room near the meeting-room doors, there should be a no-noise policy after a certain hour so people can rest. I wasn't satisfied with my stay.
