Comfort Inn Val-d Or

We booked two rooms as Choice members, but only got credit for one. For a hotel of this brand, this place is way overpriced compared with Ontario locations. Comfort Inn Lakeshore North Bay is half the price, and the staff there are extremely friendly. On a very hot day, we arrived around 3pm to find no lemon water and a broken ice machine, with no alternative offered. Then we were told our group of four retired folks couldn't play cards at a table in the breakfast area. We travel a lot, and this was the first time we were refused a table, with nowhere else to go since there's no lounge.

There isn't an elevator. The rooms were clean and a decent size, and being right off the Transcanada was handy. They allow pets, which is a plus, but it felt pricey for what you get.

Be careful how loudly you talk in your own room. The night shift woman was awful and called the cops for no reason. The cops laughed about it. With the colorful hair and everything, you know.

I stayed downstairs on January 7, 2025, and the room was extremely cold because the heater didn't work. It was the worst experience I've had, and I'll never stay here again. Other Comfort Inns have been renovated, but this one hasn't.
