The front desk and restaurant staff were very nice, and I appreciated that the hotel welcomed pets. It was also very clean and well maintained. The refrigerator was handy, and the location put me near one edge of downtown. I was surprised there wasn't at least a 10% discount for eating at the hotel's own restaurant. The furniture was too large for the room. I had to keep moving the chair by the door to get out, and with a travel companion there wouldn't have been enough space for both of us to eat at the in-room table.

I've booked group stays here about a dozen times. It's inexpensive, good value, close to everything we needed, and the staff are friendly and laid back. Late checkout is available until 2 pm, and the rooms are newly renovated and non-smoking. The diner-style restaurant suits the motel's character: confident and easygoing, well-worn but clean, a little tacky and very approachable.

The biggest problem was the shower, whose temperature kept swinging from scalding hot to ice cold. Still, the rooms were spacious and clean, the quaint atmosphere was lovely, and the location was great for walking around downtown. Service was friendly and helpful, and it's good value for the price. Just watch out for those showers!

The location is perfect, parking is free, rates are very reasonable, and the place was clean. Breakfast in the classic diner-style restaurant was quick, tasty, and reasonably priced. I'd consider staying again, even with the drawbacks. It was an upscale motor inn and a Victoria icon in its heyday, but those days are past. I stayed one night. The room was dated but clean and in good repair, and simple but more than adequate for a night. Front desk staff were welcoming and friendly. As other reviews had said, sound insulation is poor: traffic kept me awake all night, along with conversations in the parking lot. The shower head was about 5 feet high, and regulating the water was nearly impossible. It swung on its own from freezing to scalding and back again.
