Inn On The Beach

On check-in day, the inn keeper refused to let us into the rental and said he'd refund our accommodation. We had a dog in the car, and I told him upfront that it wouldn't be going inside. We were only dropping off our bags before leaving for the “Wasaga anniversary” event that weekend, and the dog was staying with a friend. He talked over us, said cameras were watching everything, and threatened a cleaning fee. We left upset after being refused entry and treated as if we'd bring the dog into the unit. After I wrote about the experience, they refused to refund us, saying we'd broken the no-pet policy even though we never entered the unit. I don't see how that violates the policy. The owner won't refund us, and I feel this place took our money. They haven't shown that a pet was in the unit. How can they prove we violated the rule?

Angelo & Sonia were wonderful hosts, always around when needed, friendly, and very accommodating. We felt safe and comfortable, and parking right in front of our room was easy. The inn is right on the beach, so it was simple to pop back to the room for the washroom or a snack, and the sunsets from this lovely part of the beach were amazing. Our place was spotless and comfortable, with everything we needed: a full kitchen and dining table, sofa and chair, full washroom, a nice bedroom with very comfortable beds, plus a drip coffee maker, toaster, and fresh linens. It was a great vacation spot in Wasaga Beach.

Ang and Sonia have gone above and beyond every time we've visited, making sure our vacation needs are met and giving the experience a personal touch. We've stayed at The Inn on the Beach at different times of year over the past 10 years. We're a culturally diverse family and have always felt welcome and respected. The rooms are immaculate and well cared for, the Wi-Fi is great with easy-to-find passwords, and the heating and AC keep things comfortable. There's a hot tub and 2 BBQ's, with plenty of parking at both the front and back. Beach access is directly across the street, and other amenities are a short drive away. I have no concerns about encountering unexpected "guests." Ang and Sonia know the nearby area well and can suggest all sorts of activities for families in any season, depending on what you like. "The Inn" is a small, family-run vacation spot with a clear, thorough registration process and fair, reasonable rules, much like those at larger hotel chains. I'll keep planning our family's local "play and stay" vacations with them without hesitation.

The rooms also badly need renovation, and we had several uncomfortable incidents with the owner. Angelo made us feel very unwelcome and made discriminatory comments, including, verbatim, “this is why I don’t have people like you at my spot”. We were the only people of colour at his Inn, so it was clearly discriminatory. There’s a relaxing area behind the Inn for guests, but he made us uneasy about using it and even asked, “Are you guys done yet?” These are only a few examples of what happened. It felt clear that he only wants a certain “kind of people” staying there, and it’s a shame he showed that attitude in 2023. I hate having to write a negative review, but I strongly suggest spending your time and money elsewhere.
