Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Antigonish

A convenient stop while passing through town, right off the highway. The hotel was new and clean, with a couple of fast food places next door. It's a standard chain hotel with the usual amenities.

The kids loved the pool and wanted to get in whenever we let them, even though it was pretty small. Our room was nice, but the AC was noticeably loud. It didn't keep us awake, though. Staff were generally good, apart from one grumpy woman in the restaurant area. Maybe she'd had a bad week or something. We only ate breakfast there. It was fine, and the bacon was crispier than what I usually find at hotel buffets. The eggs were overcooked, and I don't think any of us finished the portions we'd taken.

We stayed for one night, and the kids had a blast in the pool. I hadn't expected a pool at Microtel, so that was a nice surprise. They provided life jackets, toys, and towels. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and breakfast had a great variety. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great stay, and the hotel felt thoughtful and welcoming.

The hotel is across the highway from the main part of town, so it's less walkable, but downtown is still doable on foot, about 2 km away. What stood out most was how kind and understanding the Microtel in Antigonish staff were when my wife and I had to change our holiday plans at the last minute because of health concerns. They were helpful at every turn and went above and beyond to make things as comfortable as possible. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and service.
