Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel

The view was amazing, and the staff were super friendly. The room was perfect for me, though a bit small. They even had extra linen in the closet, which some hotels forget. Parking is across the street, so bundle up if it's cold. The hotel is connected to an amazing place with good drinks. I'd rate this hotel above three stars.

The panoramic view of the Detrot riverfront was beautiful, and the room was very spacious. Its surface looked clean, and the bed was firm, which I liked. Still, the suite didn't feel like suite quality, and the stained grout, dusty vents, and dated look weren't appealing for the price. At check-in I was told the deposit would be $100 and refunded the next day, but they took $200, and by January 2 it still hadn't been returned. When I called, I was told it could take a week or more. I had asked about resort fees and parking when booking and was told there was parking, with no fees mentioned. It turned out to be public parking that the hotel charges $19 for, though I could have paid the city $8 instead. I also wasn't told about the $30 resort fee. I wouldn't stay here again because those charges weren't disclosed.

Our room had a beautiful panoramic view, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were nice, though a little dated, and it was fairly quiet. The elevators moved slowly, but there are a lot of floors. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast isn't included. I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

My wife, our two sons, and I rented rooms 1705 and 1706 from February 7 to February 9. We arrived around 4:00 PM, got our keys, and then the elevator stopped near the ninth floor as we were heading to the 17th. The doors wouldn't open and nothing worked, so we were trapped. My wife started screaming. I called the front desk for help, and a staff member and later the manager just told us to wait. I explained that my wife has claustrophobia and panic attacks, but they said the elevator company might arrive in about 20 minutes. No one called the fire department or treated it like an emergency. After about 30 minutes, worried for our safety, we called 911 ourselves. The fire department came quickly and rescued us. My wife was crying, my sons were terrified, and I felt helpless as their father. Afterward, no one from the hotel checked on us, apologized, or asked if we were okay. The only time they acted quickly was when taking payment. The incident ruined our weekend, and my wife was so frightened that she stayed in the room and wouldn't use the elevator again.
