Nor Villa Hotel

I left my bag by accident at the bar, and they brought it up to my room right away. I was so grateful, and their kindness from check-in through check-out made a wonderful memory from my first visit to Winnipeg. Check-in was fun thanks to the incredibly friendly staff and their great sense of humor. The beer was perfectly chilled and reasonably priced, and the food we had with it was the best in town. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of hot water and cozy bedding that made for a great night's sleep.

They still owe me $45, and they were no help getting it back. I won't be going again. Late one night, the vendor's machine was acting up, so they had to run my transaction twice and my card got charged twice. I didn't notice until the next day. When I returned to sort it out, the same guy who'd always given me a positive experience was working with another guy. He took my details and said the manager would contact me, but no one did. It's impossible to reach a manager by phone. The second time I came back, the same guy was at the vendor. He knew about the problem but wouldn't help us find the manager, who was on site, and told us to go look for him.

We saw a woman get so over-served that an ambulance had to come pick her up. Staff will also accuse you of smoking drugs in the lobby washroom and assault you. The Curtis up the road is a much better option.

There are a bar, disco, restaurant, and pot shop in the hotel, with restaurants and stores within walking distance. My first stay was good, the staff were really nice, and the room was clean. I'd visit again.
