Hotel Bären Am Bundesplatz

Really good value, and the whole place felt civilised and well cared for. It has the feel of a family-run hotel where people want you to have a good stay. The rooms were thoughtfully designed and very clean, and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and there was a complimentary espresso machine. It’s close to the station and an excellent farmer’s market.

The staff were great, and the reception had information about places to visit and which restaurants were open during the holidays. That really showed how much care they put into service. The location is hard to beat. My room was spacious, warm, and inviting, with a high ceiling, a coffee machine, warm towels in the washroom, and adjustable light brightness. Five stars for everything.

The Bären theme throughout the hotel was adorable, and breakfast had lots of choice. The rooms were good, too, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My one gripe was the noisy street outside: supply trucks and market stalls get busy quite early. The hotel can’t control that, but the windows insulate well when shut, and they thoughtfully provide earplugs. With the windows open, the noise is much worse. Light sleepers may want to ask for a room away from the street. Great hotel, and I’d recommend it.

I only stayed one night and couldn’t fault the place. The room and bed were very comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, with equally friendly staff. Highly recommend.
