One Suite Hotel - Zollhaus

Breakfast was brought over in the morning whenever it suited us, and we had views down to the bear park. The place occupies the whole building across two floors at the edge of Bern's old town. Inside, it's very modern and packed with amenities, while the period furnishings give it a distinctive charm. I can't imagine finding a better suite in the old town.

The place used to be a toll house, and for a short time it also served as a charming little museum before becoming a hotel. It's conveniently next to Bern’s Bear Park and arguably the smallest hotel in Switzerland.

I stayed at the zolhaus a while ago, and it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend it.

The view and location made the price feel worthwhile, even though it is quite expensive. The hotel is beautifully put together, with thoughtful details from the ground floor to the first, including breakfast, an umbrella, and backpacks. It's right above the Bärengrabens, with the Aare just below, at one end of the bridge or the other depending where you're standing. The bus stop is right outside, so the Altstadt is only minutes away, and it's also an easy walk. Check-in works a little differently: you walk around the hotel to Altes Tramdepot to pick up your key. They gave us a warm welcome, were super friendly and informative, and made everything easy. It also gave us a peek at where we might have lunch or dinner.
