ibis Bern Expo

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and I got a free public transport ticket for my stay. The tram ride to the city center is medium-short, and the hotel is close to Bern Expo and Wankdorfstadion. The three-person room felt rather small for three. There weren’t enough outlets, and the table was pretty minimal, though most people probably don’t spend much time in the room. The toilet door couldn’t be locked and had large gaps at the top and bottom. The shower is beside the beds, with only a little frosted glass, so you need to be comfortable with the others seeing you naked.

Everything was up to par for the price, and I had no complaints. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff helpful and friendly, and the location is convenient and fairly close to the center. A good fit for a business trip.

Getting to Bern station took just seven minutes by car, which worked perfectly for an early trip to Zurich Airport. It was one of the cleanest Ibis Budget hotels I’ve stayed in. The night receptionist was very helpful and gave great service. I also booked over the phone with SARA/H, who was professional, helpful, and had a lovely personality.

I left deeply disappointed by how reception treated me at Ibis Budget Bern. They refused to let me book despite rooms being available, saying I “smelled of something.” I don’t drink or smoke, and after a long day driving, I expected basic courtesy instead of being judged. They changed their position and offered me a room only after realizing they were wrong. By then, I couldn’t accept it without giving up my self-respect. No guest should be humiliated or treated with prejudice. This behavior is unacceptable from a reputed hotel chain.
