I spent two months here during covid, so I got a good feel for the place. The manager was excellent about checking in and arranging things to make sure my stay went well. Even now, when I need to collect mail, he helps me sort it out. He was also the nicest person to deal with when I was searching for a long-term hotel, and that’s why I stayed. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and always crystal clean. The location couldn’t be better for me, right in the centre, just a five-minute walk from work. For Geneva, the value is unprecedented. It’s a two-star hotel and prices here are extortionate, which I know since I live here now. It may look expensive, but compared with the places around it, it’s NOT. My only issue was the internet. It wasn’t the most stable connection, and I relied on it a lot while quarantined for two weeks after starting my job. It dropped a few times, but it wasn’t a disaster or a deal breaker. I’d suggest the owner gut out the hotel and make it three-star, though prices would go up substantially. For customers, the somewhat tired condition makes it brilliant value. I’ll recommend it to anyone, and the manager is amazing to deal with.

The location is the biggest advantage if you’re staying a long time. It’s in the heart of Geneva near the lake, and two stops from Gare de Cornavin, with trains to almost anywhere in Europe and Switzerland. The front desk also gives you a free city travel pass. I stayed about 4 weeks at Hotel Residence Cite Verdaine, Rive. The rooms were neat and clean, with room service twice a week for long-term stays. Every room has a small kitchenette where you can cook, though housekeeping doesn’t clean it, and all rooms have balconies. There are some tradeoffs for the price: the rooms are very simple, with no frills, and there’s no breakfast. Reception is only open 9 AM to 6 PM Monday to Friday, and until 2:00 PM on Saturday. There’s no laundry or shared washing area anywhere on the property. Irons and toasters can be requested, but they may be taken away a couple of days later when another room asks for them. The internet is inconsistent in the 8 series rooms and a few others. Some beds aren’t very comfortable, especially where two singles have been joined to make a double.

The room was filthy and smelled of smoke. There was dirt on the sheets that I had to brush off, food and nuts on the floor, and a dirty bathroom. I contacted the hotel to ask them to fix it and heard nothing for 24hrs. I’d booked 2 days but checked out early in the morning. I explained why, and they still charged the full rate. Horrible place, rude, more like no service. Be careful around this area too.

The location is very nice, and the small kitchen and other amenities were okay. But the price feels high for what they offer. Reception was open for a very short time, and the receptionist seemed a bit weird. The sockets weren’t working properly, and they didn’t help even after I complained. Cold air came in easily through the old windows, and the balcony wasn’t clean.

For Geneva, the price is definitely good, and there are plenty of nearby parking options if you’re willing to pay. I needed somewhere by the old town for a business trip, and this hotel was just where I needed it. It sits between a 20 kmh road and a pedestrian area, so it’s fairly quiet. At night, though, I had some trouble with party ppl passing below the windows, which I kept open because there’s no A/C. My room was clean and okay, with two single beds, a decent bathroom and a small kitchenette. Reception isn’t open 24 hours, but you can work around that.
