I felt uncomfortable with how little privacy the hotel allowed. Checkout was at noon, but around 11 someone knocked once or twice and then opened my door right away. I called out and they left. I put up the do not disturb sign to show someone was inside, but about 15 minutes later they knocked again anyway. I opened the door and reminded the man that checkout was at 12. He said, “ok, ok,” and walked off. I'm a man traveling alone, and this made me uneasy. I can't imagine how it would feel for a woman on her own. The room was very basic and oddly decorated: a hard mattress, only two pillows, no fridge or clock, and just four hangers. The bathroom smelled of sewage when I first arrived. I didn't complain then and wasn't going to leave a review until the door incidents. The check-in desk is also a bar, which felt strange to me. Maybe that's a Moxy thing, but I've stayed at many Marriotts and never at a Moxy before. During my two-night stay, the key stopped working for the elevator every time I went out, so I had to get a replacement at the front desk. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The hotel's location made my short business trip easy. From Bern main station (Hauptbahnhof), it's about a three-minute train ride, then the Moxy is only 30 metres away. My room faced the tracks on a lower floor, yet I barely heard the fast trains passing through, which says a lot about the soundproofing. Guests also get a free local pass for trains, buses, and trams during their stay. You activate it in an app with the code they provide. For me, a quiet room, decent bed, good shower, and easy access are the key things on a short work trip, and the Moxy covered those. Check-in was smooth, everything was explained, and they recognized my Marriott status. The separate bathroom had a powerful shower, a nice sink, and a toilet. The bed and pillows were fine, though nothing special. There's no wardrobe or drawers, so a longer stay would mean living out of your suitcase. I skipped the hotel breakfast and used the Coop next door instead. It had fresh bakery items, fruit, and the usual range for a small convenience store. The basement fitness room, open around the clock with a key card, was well kept and had some interesting equipment, plenty of towels, and a Brita water filter. Checkout was easy. The one real problem was the internet: it was slow on my laptop and kept dropping. I was told this had been an ongoing issue for a while, and it needs fixing soon. If I'd needed to upload or download a lot for work, I'd have been in real trouble. Apart from that, it was a perfect stay.

The location is very nice, just across from the tracks, with easy access to Bern and Zollikofen. The room was only okay, though there was construction next door. They can't control the work, but I don't think a Titanium member should have been put in a room facing it. Internet was also a problem throughout my one-night stay, which was especially frustrating as a businessman. I raised it with the front desk three times and wrote to the Hotel Manager twice, but got no reply. I ended up using roaming data for two important calls late at night. I think they should give me BonVoy points for the trouble.

We woke up to a severe headache and a head cold after spending a freezing night in the room. The previous evening, around 8 p.m., we asked reception to turn up the heat, but they refused and said the temperature was locked for the whole building. The following morning, a woman at reception told me they had no portable heaters. When I called again later and spoke to the manager, it turned out they did have heaters. She simply hadn't checked. Why wouldn't someone working at a hotel ask a colleague when a guest says they're freezing? When the manager came by at 10 a.m., I told her the heating situation was unacceptable and needed to change because the weather had clearly turned to winter temperatures. She checked the room wearing a coat and scarf and said it was “not cold.” I told her to try spending the night there without those, and she was arrogant and gaslighting me. I asked for a written apology and a refund for that freezing night, plus one extra night as compensation. She refused and wouldn't even confirm the refund in writing. I calmly explained that checkout was officially at noon and, since I had received no refund, I'd stay in the lobby until it was resolved. They called the police instead of dealing with the issue. Two officers arrived while I was sitting quietly explaining that I was still a paying guest. They used unnecessary physical force to remove me, kicked my ankle, then pushed me out even though I told them I had an existing foot injury. It was deeply distressing and humiliating, and I've filed an official complaint about the police assault.

Parking costs Euro35 a night, but the hotel is literally next to the train station and expo. There was a huge game today, 12/14/25. Moxy is a nice hotel, though a bit pricey, and they all seem much the same. I like its vibe and the designer's attention to detail. The staff are great, and many speak German, French, and English. Breakfast had lots of options. I missed having lotion and a refrigerator, though there is a microwave and kettle in the lobby, along with some sugary snacks in the evening.
