TCS Camping Bern - Eymatt

The campsite and its facilities were very nice and conveniently located near Bern. We could arrive around 9:30 in the evening, which was really practical. The downside was the noise: traffic was very loud at night and even worse in the morning. Otherwise, it was great.

We spent the whole day in Bern, such a beautiful place, and were given bus tickets to get there. The site is lovely, right by the water, with friendly, helpful reception staff. You can hire paddle boards there, and there's a little children's play area plus a cafe bar and restaurant. The showers were fantastic and always clean. We'd definitely return.

We arrived just after 12:00 on a Saturday to camp with a tent and go for a bike ride, but reception was closed from 12:00 until 13:30. They wouldn't let us put up the tent and come back to register and pay, so we'd have had to wait nearly an hour and a half. We found another campsite instead, got set up, and were ready to ride by 13:45. I'm glad I didn't wait around. If you're tent camping rather than travelling in a camper van, the other campsite was much better.

I was passing through Bern on my way to Italy and stayed one night. There are two fields for tents, including one with a corner of rough grass and flowers for insects, which deserves a nod. When I checked in, the computer said no, but they still let me pitch the tent and return later to pay. A very friendly welcome, and everything I could have wished for.
