We stayed in a double-bed bungalow, a bit like a cabin, with outdoor seating by the room. There’s a shared kitchen and separate common toilets for men and women. In the morning and evening you can enjoy the river views, and the scenery is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful, and late check-in was easy because the hotel staff had messaged us ahead of time. It’s across the river from Interlaken railway station, about a 10-minute walk. There’s no public transport to get there, so you’ll need to walk or take a taxi. There are several types of accommodation here.

The setting is the real draw. The lovely green-blue river runs right alongside the place, and it’s easy to sit and watch it for ages. Interlaken Ost station is just across the river, about a 10-minute walk away. The atmosphere was lively when we stayed over the weekend. Coming from India, we’d never seen a hostel with so many people dancing and partying until 10 pm, when everyone stopped promptly in line with the house rules. Later we stayed at three quiet hostels in Zermatt, Geneva, and Barcelona, and none had that same electric feel. The room was fine for a hostel, with a decent kitchen, WC, and shower. Go for it!

I’d been here once before, but this time I stayed in a room. It’s close to the train station, with mountains all around, and I’d definitely recommend it for backpackers or anyone on a low budget. The receptionists were very pretty and young. The young gentleman at reception gave us lots of good tips about Interlaken, though it was a shame he wasn’t allowed to exchange phone numbers while working ;) The hot water could be better. During my four days there, it often went lukewarm or cold and didn’t last long. Even so, I had an amazing stay and will be back!
