Hyatt Place Zurich Airport The Circle

The staff made this stay feel special, especially Melissa and Ricardo from guest relations and hospitality, Lloyd, and the others whose names I can’t remember 🙈. The lobby’s “take a book, leave a book” idea is great. I left my book, "PERSPECTIVE 2", there, with a note inside, so have a look if you visit 😊 The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the airport, and had a welcoming but luxurious feel. My room had a fantastic view. I also liked the lobby marketplace, with snacks, drinks, chocolates and souvenirs. The restaurant food was good and the service was great.

The comfortable bed and pillows, and the airport proximity, were the strongest points for me. It’s handy for an early flight, and Rhine Falls or Konstanz, Germany, are both about an hour away if you’re staying overnight. Still, compared with the Hyatt reputation and a town hotel I’d stayed at in Interlaken, this felt average at best and disappointing for the price. The early check-in situation was especially frustrating. I checked in online and was told I’d get an email when the room was ready. Before 9:00 a.m., an email arrived saying it was ready, so I went straight over instead of putting my bags in a Zurich HB locker. The trip from Zurich HB takes a good 30 minutes, including the walk from the airport station. At reception, I was told checking in before 3:00 p.m. would cost CHF 45. Neither the online confirmation nor the ready email had mentioned a fee. They offered to store my luggage, but I’d expected to rest for an hour or two, and to have my valuables in the safe. I paid the CHF 45 because I was already prepared to rest. For a Hyatt, that felt misleading and really disappointing. The toiletries were also very basic for a premium hotel: soap, shampoo and conditioner, but no toothpaste (I checked everywhere), toothbrush, razor or lotion. I had my own toothbrush, though even budget hotels provide one. The bathroom amenities felt extremely sparse. The receptionist was friendly and professional, gave me useful travel tips, and is the reason I’m giving the stay any positive rating. The early check-in policy wasn’t his fault. It rained heavily, and part of the entrance has no roof, so you have to walk in the rain. I’ve stayed at several Hyatt properties, but this one didn’t live up to the brand.

The rooms are a good size, clean and modern, and the beds are comfortable. There are plenty of rooms for a family of four, so it works well with two kids. The hotel is very close to Zurich airport, about a five-minute walk, though you do walk outside. You can also take the cart from the hotel all the way to the room if you want. I’m a lifetime Platinum Elite member with Marriott, and this stay made me think about switching to Hyatt.

The people made the stay memorable. Melissa at the Front Desk was kind and helpful throughout, and Lloyd and his Portuguese counterpart ;) from Zoom gave us recommendations that helped make great memories. The bartender from Spain was full of energy, friendly, and great to talk with, so every evening bar visit was a highlight. We also met the General Manager, who was approachable and genuine, and clearly cares about her team and guests. The property felt clean, modern and welcoming, with a friendly atmosphere. This is one of the best Hyatt properties I’ve stayed at, and I’d happily return or recommend it to anyone visiting Zurich. Thanks to the whole team, we’ll remember the stay fondly.
