La Tgoma - Hotel & Restaurant

The rooms have new furnishings and super comfortable beds, and the staff were so friendly. Thanks to Claudia and Michael for looking after us so well. We’ll definitely come back.

The restaurant across the street draws locals too, with hearty Swiss food from the region, a broad wine list and outdoor seating. The road between it and the hotel gets busy and noisy during the day, but the windows insulated it well enough that I slept like an angel 😇😁. I was hiking nearby and wanted somewhere reasonably priced. At the time I wrote this, a single room was 86 CHF with breakfast. Mine was large, and the bed suited a big person like me. There’s also a sauna and steam bath, a nice way to relax after a hike. The service was friendly, helpful and very good. I did notice a smell from the toilet and shower area; I mentioned it at reception the next morning, and she said she’d escalate it. Good value, especially for solo travellers, with a big room and a proper wellness area.

At checkout, the price went up by 60 CHF from what one manager had told us when we arrived. The reason given was that I wasn’t a nice person. My wife, my child and I were insulted, and the main manager called me rude without any reason I could see. She said she was the boss and didn’t care about my opinion or feelings. The way we were treated made me feel like the worst person in the world. You cannot treat customers like that. With this attitude, I’d advise avoiding both the main manager and the hotel. I wish you the best with that mindset.

Our child hurt his eye in the hotel facilities. When we asked whether there was a pharmacy nearby or a first aid kit at the hotel, the main manager, who called herself the boss, laughed at us and made fun of us. We were shocked and shaken. Then, at checkout, the room price had gone up. The manager said it was because we were “not nice people,” for example because we hadn’t said hello loudly enough. That’s absurd and untrue. We left after she shouted insults at us. The incident was recorded if evidence is needed. I strongly wouldn’t recommend this place. The manager seems to bully customers based on her mood, and someone like that shouldn’t be working in customer service, especially at a hotel.
