Backpackers Luzern

The mountain and lake view from our balcony was beautiful, and everything was conveniently close by. My friend and I stayed three nights while exploring Lucerne. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bathrooms were always clean too. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return.

Florian, and his gorgeous dog, made this stay special. I think Florian is the owner or manager, though I’m not sure. He was welcoming, friendly, and generous with information about Luzern. Since I was working remotely and needed somewhere for my car, he let me work there all day after checkout and park in his own private space for a while. He also lent me a small adapter to keep during my time in Switzerland. The dog was a big, friendly teddy bear, too. The hostel is only a short walk from the centre and is a more affordable option for this area. The facilities were great, with impeccably clean showers and toilets. I even got a free upgrade to a single room because I would have been the only person in my dorm in 'low-season'. I’d give the host 10 stars, and the accommodation, facilities, and prices relative to the rest of Switzerland all deserve five. I’d recommend it to anyone travelling through.

Everything about Backpackers Luzern was good, so there’s no point listing it all. Even with unlimited money, I think I’d choose it over a hotel. Every major city could use a place like this. The world would feel more connected and happier.

The receptionist was so friendly and even helped call the hostel in Zurich to ask about my passport, since I didn’t have a phone number. My room was great: I had one bed in a two-bed room with a shared bathroom, and it was the first shared room where I felt I had a bit of privacy. There was also a table for both of us to use. The area was quiet, the location was okay, and public transport was a short distance away.
